SURROUNDINGS AND HISTORY OF THE BUILDING
The house is located in the historic center of Amsterdam, just a stone's throw from Amsterdam Central Station, Dam Square and the pretty Sint Nicolaas Church. The Central Station metro stop is a stone's throw from the complex and takes you to the other side of the city or to Schiphol Airport. For a cozy restaurant or an Amsterdam boutique, you can walk straight onto the Zeedijk. Are you a shop-a-holic; the Kalverstraat, Magna Plaza shopping center, the Bijenkorf and the Nieuwenduiijk are a 5-minute walk away. There are numerous shops and supermarkets nearby for your daily shopping. The Prins Hendrikkade will become more and more car-free, creating more space for pedestrians and cyclists.

HISTORY OF THE BUILDING
The stretch of quay between the entrance to the Zeedijk and café Zeepost, of which number 86 is a part, was called the Teertuinen in the Middle Ages, because it was a storage area for wood and tar. After all, Amsterdam's oldest harbor has been located here at the head of the Damrak since the 13th century, and ships were repaired there. The building was originally an office of the Goedkoop shipping company and tugboats. It was built under the architecture of Dolf van Gendt, known for, among others, the Concertgebouw. It was transformed around 1980 and the complex was completely renovated into apartments. At that time, anhydrite floating floors, among other things, were poured. The most famous resident of the building was poet, journalist and filmmaker Hans Verhagen, who was awarded the P.C. Hooft Prize in 2009.

LAYOUT
Beautiful and well kept entrance with marble floors. Wide, stylish stairs to the first floor. Spacious and bright living room with large windows that make the house extremely light. From the living room you have a unique view of the beautiful Amsterdam Central Station. The ceilings are over 3 meters high. There is currently an open kitchen, but we can imagine that you will opt for a new kitchen with an island, cooking with a view! At the rear is the spacious bedroom with the bathroom next to it. This also needs to be renovated and currently has a bath and sink. Next to the bedroom there is currently an open space, ideal for a workplace. You could turn this into a second bedroom/office.
